Waterford Crystal
The largest manufacturers of mouth-blown and hand-cut crystal open their doors to visitors for fascinating factory tours. Visitors can see master craftspeople at work, blowing glass, sculpturing and engraving crystal. In the gallery there is a fine display of Waterford Crystal and an audiovisual presentation every 20 minutes.

Ardmore monastic site
According to legend, 30 years before St Patrick arrived in Ireland in the 5th century, St Declan crossed from Wales and established a monastic settlement at Ardmore. He chose a magnificent location, with stunning views over the bay. To this day the site is known as Old Parish – believed to be the oldest parish in Ireland

Touraneema heritage centre
A 300-year-old thatched farmhouse, with a working dairy, blacksmith’s, old machinery, gypsy wagon, baking and buttermaking, staff in period costume, pet farm and childrens play area.

Christ church cathedral
An ornate renaissance-style structure, designed by Waterford architect John Roberts and built in the 1770’s to replace an 11th century church on the same site.

City walls
Considerable stretches of the ancient city walls remain, dating from the 9th century. Walking tours run from the Granville hotel.

Lismore castle
One of Ireland’s most evocative fortresses, looming above the Blackwater valley, built in 1185 and extensively remodelled in the 19th century. Only the gardens are open to the public.

French church
Across the square from Christ Church Cathedral is the roofless French Church, founded as a Franciscan friary in 1240 and later used by Huguenot refugees.

Holy trinity Cathedral
The simple exterior of the Roman Catholic Cathedral, also designed by John Roberts, conceals an extravagantly decorated interior hung with chandeliers of Waterford Crystal.

Reginalds tower
Built by Vikings in 1003 as part of Waterford’s defences, this massive tower has served as a royal residence, mint and gaol. It is now a civic museum.

Lismore castle gardens
A walled and woodland garden with a fine collection of camellias and magnolias and a remarkable yew walk. Spencer is believed to have written Faerie Queen here.

Curraghmore house gardens
An intriguing feature of these landscaped gardens is the Countess of Tyrone’s shell house dating from 1754.

Lismore heritage centre
An audiovisual presentation of Lismore’s rich history where the story of the naming is rather beguilingly told.

Market House Dungarvan
Local history museum with a maritime display and photographic collection displayed in the 17th century Market House

Ardmore
