Monaghan
A landscape that you can reach out and touch. Intimate. Friendly and
accessible. Resonant with the poetry of Patrick Kavanagh - "...the
earth beautiful in the frosted glass of November trees". A county
for all seasons. A cathedral town. Picturesque villages. Shaped by drumlin
hills, fishing lakes and lakes for recreation. A perfect backdrop to
enjoy the great outdoors . Memorable!

Carrickmacross
This busy market town is the home of the highly-sought after Carrickmacross
lace. The St.Louis nuns revived the craft in the 19th century and today
skilled crafts people at the Carrickmacross Co-op continue the tradition.
Harry Clarke, one of the Irelands foremost stained glass artists in
the early 1900's, designed the windows which enhance St. Joseph's Church
in Carrickmacross.
Iniskeen
Patrick Kavanagh, one of Ireland's most highly regarded poets, was born
at Inniskeen and is buried in the village cemetary. The MacMahon clan
of the 17th century are buried in a vault in the village and a cross
bearing their arms can be seen on a wall near the graveyard. The Patrick
Kavanagh Literary Resource Centre in the sensitive restored Church is
worth a visit.
Clones
Clones dates back to early Christian times when St. Tighearnac founded
a monstery here. Code(the gulliver information code) Update Image Change
